| Inside Obama's Oval Office: The plush furnishings awaiting the President Elect | | I just came across this article and found this interesting to share. I am sure you will be very interested about the furnishing facts and concepts of a distinguished leader as in the case of USA's President Elect Barack Obama.Fact: The Oval Office has been the preserve of 17 US Presidents since it was built in 1909. Each new incumbent stamps his own style on the room in the West Wing – and Barack Obama’s design choices will be closely analysed when he moves in next January.1 Three 11ft 6in French windows flood the room with light. In the Second World War they were fitted with bulletproof glass.2 and 3 Just as every President has done before him, Barack Obama will be expected to keep the US flag and Presidential flag behind the desk.4 The Gunlock chair has served nine Presidents and was specifically designed for John F. Kennedy, who suffered from chronic back pain.5 Photos of President Bush’s family are displayed on the side table.6 The HMS Resolute Desk, carved from the timbers of a British frigate of the same name and a gift from Queen Victoria.7 President Franklin D. | Do you re-arrange furniture/furnishings in your home? | | Do you re-arrange furniture/furnishings in your home? My mom has this knack of re-arranging pieces of our furniture and furnishings at our house. Roughly three times a year, our couch, television set, desktop computer, cabinets and other furnishings get to stay in various areas around the living room. It's so confusing and frustrating, I must admit, especially if you're used to seeing your living room in a certain state. In the wee hours of the night, when I get a glass of water, I often bump against a chair or a table here and there because I didn't know that my mom had this itch to re-arrange again during the day. What about you? Do you or anyone in your household re-arrange furniture/furnishings? How often? How do you find it? | |

| Are you really picky about your furnishings? My house is only half furnished | | because I won't buy just anything. This is the first house I've ever owned and everything has to be special. Not expensive, just unique and something I really like. Last week I bought this footstool--I've included a picture--for just $12 at a thrift shop and I absolutely love it! It's iron, very sturdy and yet it looks very pretty.
I have minimal furniture right now. I use an old laundry table for dining but cover it with a pretty tablecloth, because I can't find the right dining set. I went a year without a footstool because I hadn't found this one yet. I'm glad I waited!
Are you picky about your furnishings to the point of doing without or making do until you can find the perfect piece?(that's an orange dog toy behind it--no matter how I try, I just can't seem to train them to pick up their toys![em]lol[/em]) | |

| Do you like to interior decorate? | | I like to interior decorate my whole apartment, with spring around the corner. I want to get some new knick-knacks, some new bath rugs, and some new furniture in a dark cherry wood color. I think the dark color would compliment the light periwinkle colored walls in the living room. Yet I do not have a lot of money to interior decorate. Do you know any cheap places or online websites from which I could purchase some home and bathroom furnishings? | |
