| History of a laptop computer.... | | The idea of an personal computer came in early 1970s.In 1968 a "personal, portable data manipulator" was imagined by "ALAN KAY",and described in 1972 a paper as the "DYNABOOK".The IBM special computer APL machine portable(SCAMP), show and explain that in 1973.It was based on PALM processor.IBM's first portable computer appeared in 1975,base on SCAMP prototype. The number of portables increased rapidly. In 1981 osborne 1 released, used the Zilog Z80 and weighed 10.7kg.It has no battery,a 13cm CRT screen and floppy drives are used.In this same year Epson HX-20 was announced. The Epson had a LCD screen, rechargeable battery and a printer. The Dulmont magnum was released at 1981-82,but not marketed internationally until 1985.The Gavilan SC released in 1983,was the first notebook using the tern "laptop".From 1983 onward, several new technologies were developed, including touchpad, pointing stick, etc. Some CPU's were designed specifically for low power use including laptops and supported dynamic power management in some designs.Displays changed into VGA resolution by 1988 and 256 color screens by 1993.High capacity storage devices like, optical and hard drives became available in laptops. | |

| Why should the laptop/computer manufacturers force us to use some specific OS? | | In the recent days every laptop and even the desktop computers are sold with some factory installed Operating Systems like Windows Vista or Windows 7. They used to disable the option of installing our familiar operating systems and if we need to install some other OS in them, we need to send the systems to the dealers to make the settings. Most of the dealers are not allowing to change the OS as per our interest and they start to threaten us as like " the warranty will not be applicable if we change the OS"..We are paying them for the products..Then why they are forcing us to use some OS which is not familiar to us? Is this the only way for them to promote their OS? Do you still work with the built in OS? | |
