| Anybody enjoying the waiting room of life? | | I notice that in this life there are so many things we are waiting for. We wait for our turn in the restaurant. We wait for transport. We wait for friends when we hang out. We wait for co-workers or our boss at meetings. In our studies, we wait until we graduate. In relationship, we wait until we are mature and financially independent before we settle down. At work, we wait for promotions and approval of benefits and so on. During pregnancy, it would take 9 months before we finally see the baby! Everything seems like a never ending waiting time. What is your feelings about this? | |

| inverse waiting room laws | | 1) The more boring the magazine in the Waiting Room, the longer the longer you have to Wait for a doctor.
2) When its your turn to see the doctor all your symptoms disappear., when you leave the doctors room all your symptoms appear.
3) On your way out the surgery you spot an article in one the boring magazines.
Then a couple of days later you go down with the flu that you picked up in the Waiting Room. | |

| What do you do when you are in the waiting room? | | What do you do when you are in the waiting room waiting? Sometimes I wait for several hours on my daughter at the low income clinic where she goes for treatment. I don't take my 3 year old grandaugther with us because of the long wait. I see some of the other children that are with their parent that are so irritable and sometimes go to sleep only to be awakened. It is just too tiring for a toddler to wait for hours when there is someone at home that can keep them. I usually take a find a word book or a crossword book with me. What kinds of things do you do in the waiting room? If I don't do something I will go to sleep. | |

| ER Department Waiting Room Overlooks Corpse | | Double Amputee Brian Sinclair died while waiting 34 hours for care in a Winnipeg, Canada E.R. waiting room. He was left unchecked even though other patients expressed concern about him. The staff claimed they were simply "too busy" to check the very still man's condition.

This case is being investigated by authorities, for fear there is a culture of 'neglect' among the hospital staff. That is a clear no brainer.

| Vets waiting room... | | Waiting in the vets I do wonder about the lack of intelligence some people display. First there was the father and daughter. Now the daughter was obviously dog phobic so why take her into a vet's waiting room. Every time a dog came in she starting whimpering and fidgeting (way to act like a prey animal, kid...) and was obviously distressed. A guy came in with a Neopolitan Mastiff puppy which was quite big but very well behaved but this kid just got worse and her father acted like it was okay. I did wonder about calling Social Services but became too engrossed fussing the puppy.Another was a young woman with a pet rabbit in a carrier - so far so good - but she put it down facing outwards so the rabbit could see and be seen by every dog in the place. Cue, distressed rabbit and excited dogs. When the nurse suggested she turn the carrier so the rabbit was shielded she acted very put out. I wonder if there's a note on her records saying she's an idiot...What is your vet's waiting room like? | |

| Would you go up to a person coughing in a waiting room & insist they cover their | | I was in a waiting room at a doctor's office a couple of weeks ago and a man came up and sat down and promptly started coughing and not bothering to cover his mouth. I didn't even have time to move away from the flow of germs coming from him. I was annoyed at the time as it was obvious he wasn't feeling well. Now I am extremely PO'd because he managed to spread his illness to me. I have been sick for the past week with a sore throat and then it turned into a serious cold. My BF and I have had to delay our trip because of how sick I was. I also am an asthmatic so there is even more concerns about my getting over the cold. I don't want to go back to the doctor because of what I could pick up from the idiots sitting there hacking their brains out and not bothering to cover their mouth.I have made two decisions about a situation like what happened, first I won't go into anymore crowded waiting areas (I'll wait outside instead) and secondly I won't hesitate to inform the offending person about how inconsiderate they are by insisting on spreading their germs by not covering their mouths when they cough. There are a lot of older fragile citizens that a cold could land them in the... | |

| My doctor did a 'double take' when he saw me in his waiting room. | | It's True. I have a condition that is referred to as uncontrolled hypertension (high blood pressure that can't be controlled). The condition developed when I was about 25 years old and progressively worsened as the years went on. I was examined by many specialist and had every possible organ exam that medical science can come up with. For years I was in and out of hospitals and taking every known blood pressure medication that can be prescribed. Then during one visit around the age of 30 I was told by a hypertension specialist that I was going to die and the at best I would only had 5 years to live. Of course a doctor shouldn't tell you this unless he has concrete evidence to support this, and he did. As 10 years went by I finally had many of the internal organ damages that are associated with hypertension . An enlarged heart, hardening of the arteries in the brain and of course a stroke. For reasons only God knows, by looking at me you could never tell how much damage is in my body and my recovery from the stroke was nothing short of a miracle even thought the damage remains. I decided to return to the doctor that told me I was going to die for post medical treatment. I watched... | |

| Woman Dies in Hospital Waiting Room | | I was appalled when I heard this story on last night's news! But then I thought, it is not surprising that something like a woman collapsing and falling to her death while in a hospital waiting room was bound to happen eventually. This story brought back memories of an incident that happened to my daughter some months ago which I posted a discussion on. She was hemorhaging while sitting in a hospital waiting room and not being given any attention. She had to leave one hospital and go to another to finally get some help. With the state of health care being so poor, it is little wonder that many people, like myself, have lost faith in the system. I can't help but think that the life of this poor woman might have been saved if she had been given the proper attention rather than just left there and ignored. The fact that there were so many people all around her who did nothing to help this woman makes it all the more shameful. Have you or someone you know had a disastrous episode in a hospital waiting room? You can see the video of this poor woman's ordeal here: http://www.whiotv.com/video/16758910/index.html | |
